Why Custom Blogging Works for Business

I was telemarketing the other day just to get a feel for what’s going on in the market and to see who’s really working the market.  I found it’s a really good way to get to what people are feeling and what they need.  People always share their thoughts, if you ask, and trust me, I ask.  We were talking about blogging with a wholesaler.  She said to me that her blogger, an inside employee, blogs once every three to four weeks and she finds that works for them.  “Afterall”, she said, “we don’t want to get too much exposure because we don’t sell retail, we are a wholesaler.  We don’t want the retail market to know we are the source, it complicates things.” Wow!  I couldn’t believe it.  This immediately told me three things:  1) They are not implementing the right keyword strategy to reach their target market.  2) They don’t engage their customers through their blogging, they are simply doing it for search engine optimization.  3) They don’t understand the power behind the digital world we now live in.  To top it all off, this is a $20 Million a year company. My question after that amazing call […]

Pillar to Success #3

Relationships – research has been said that your income is about the average of the incomes of the five closest people to you.  It’s been said, tell me you hang out with and I’ll tell who you are. These are principles of relationships, but it is vital that you surround yourself with people who are closer to where you want to be. I’ve seen it many times.  Good people with great potential hang out with people that have bad thinking.  Although you may think you are strong and they will not influence you, they always pull you down.  It always happens.  Make your relationships intentional. Choose where you want to be and find people that are already there.  It’s the concept of surrounding yourself with good advisors.  You will be around them and catch their way of thinking, acting, and working.  We all have the same resources available, some just use them differently.  Those that achieve more than us, simply think differently and take different actions.  Change the way you think and you change what you have.  That can be a good thing or a bad thing.  Whether it turns out to be good or bad is up to you. […]

Pillar to Success #2

SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY We are made of three components and those are (1) Spirit, (2) Mind/Soul, (3) Body.  I truly believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, not human beings having a spiritual experience.  We need build our spiritual side and connect with our creator through prayer and meditation.  This week, Thursday May 7, 2015 is dedicated “National Day of Prayer”.  A day to come together as a nation to pray for our leaders worldwide, our communities, our nation, our churches, our government, our families, and ourselves.  Find a daily devotional and start a regimen to improve your spiritual self.  Decide to pick up a bible and read five minutes daily and meditate or think about what you read and how it impacts your life and the life of those around you.  Then pray for enlightenment and direction. Your mind.  Improve yourself daily.  Focus on an area that is important to you in profession, hobby, or as a person and study about it, learn something new about it.  Resources are abundant on the internet, on YouTube, etc. Your body is your temple.  It is where you live.  It is your personal source of energy.  Eat better. Pillar to Success #1

WORK HARDER ON YOURSELF THAN YOU DO ON YOUR JOB This is the first pillar of success.  You have work harder on yourself than you do on your job.  The better you become, the better you become at everything you do.  It’s a simple concept, yet a powerful concept.  In the book “The Slight Edge”, Jeff Olson addresses the concept that there is no constant in life.  See, just like in the business life cycle there is no constant.  You are either growing or failing, that is why you need innovation; to continue the growth curve.  So the concept is that today, right now, this very moment, you are either getting better or getting worse.  You don’t see the change happen “NOW”, but over time the little things you do come together in a moment of time and “Suddenly” you see it manifest in a big way.   In the business life cycle we call this the point “Critical Mass”; when everything comes together to launch into hyper-growth or hyper-failure.  (See Video: The Business Life Cycle) Never give up on your goals.  Once you’ve set yourself in motion toward a goal, keep going until you’ve achieved it. That what makes successful […]

Goal Setting that Gets Results

Goal Setting…. many avoid setting goals because of a fear of failure or not achieving those goals at the end of the year.  I’m going to cover some basics on goal setting and then give you some key secrets to making sure they become a reality for you.  I usually achieve about 80% of the goals I set for myself and the other 20% go on to next year.  So what’s the secret? 1. Your goals have to be SPECIFIC and detailed.  You have to imagine it and see it, feel it in your imagination.  What color is it?  How much is it?  What does it smell like?  Let’s say you want to make more money this year.  How much are you going to make? Why that specific amount?  What are you going to use it for?  How are you going to feel having made that amount of money?  Picture it in your head.  Give it emotion, give it life, and give it purpose. 2. Your goals have to be MEASURABLE.  You’ve set out to make your first million this year.  Congratulations!  This means you have to make approximately a quarter million dollars every quarter.  How much revenue do you […]

Cheryl “Lola” Lucero Small Business Development Meeting

Wow! Today I met with Cheryl “Lola” Lucero, the Owner of Lucero Small Business Services and I had an amazing time. Funny thing is that I ended doing some handyman work, unexpectedly. I think she planned it. However, the meeting was great. I learned her radio show, The American Indian Reporter (AIR), featured on www.kzkoradio.com every Wednesday, live, from 8:00pm to 9:00pm mountain standard time. The show features business development community and business from a Native American Perspective. Topics they cover include environment, politics, entertainment, health and many other issues such as youth issues like bullying. Lola is so involved in the community in Denver. She’s been a community activist for more than 40 years. I work closely with Lola to help small businesses write business plans and help expand their presence through our networks and to get funding and support through the resources of our business and community contacts. We have also offered small business development training in the local communities. Topics including marketing, expansion, financial planning, and more. I am proud to work with Lola and helping the Denver community and their businesses. Her radio show is really taking off and I am so proud of her. We […]

Google said that they improved distance and ranking parameters with the Pigeon algorithm update. Many are reporting that search results are showing a much smaller radius.
